Trainers Induction Process Classes Courses

has worked for Imber Court Gym for the past twelve years and is qualified to NVQ Level 4 as a Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer.

As well as looking after Gym Members, Lee has worked closely with a Physiotherapist and has gained valuable experience in rehabilitating clients with corrective exercises following work or sports related injuries and specialises in back pain management.

Lee enjoys helping clients to improve their wellbeing and fitness levels and seeing them achieve their goals.

Our induction process

To get you started we recommend three initial induction sessions.

1st Induction – this will involve a consultation with your instructor to discuss your fitness goals. You will be taken into the gym and an individual cardio vascular programme will be written for you based on your ability and aspirations. The instructor will also teach you how to warm up and cool down at the end of each session and tell you which muscles you have worked and what stretches to perform.

2nd Induction – for your second induction your instructor will recap your warm up with you and then stretches. Once this step has been completed, a resistance programme will be written for you. This may include weight machines, free weights, fitness balls or fitness bands.

The instructors will demonstrate technique and advise on sets, reps and weights. Once you have gone through and completed your resistance workout, your instructor will repeat the cool down and stretches with you.

3rd Induction - in this session, you can go through your programme with your instructor on hand to give you any help you may need or answer any questions.

Once these three inductions are completed, it is normally recommended that you have a review of your programme within 4 to 6 weeks.

We want you to continue progress and reach the goals that you have set for yourself and that is why you can have as many reviews with an instructor as you need throughout your time as a member of the gym and all of this is included in your membership.

We also offer free circuit training sessions to all Gym members, on Tuesdays and Thursdays 9am-10am and Wednesdays 7pm-8pm, as well as free Boxercise sessions to all Gold and Silver Members Sundays 10.30-11.30am and Mondays 8.30pm-9.30pm

Tommy Moorhouse Rehabilitation

I offer tailored rehabilitation services in the comfort of the client’s own home or at Imber Court Sports Club. I strive to work closely with each client to help understand all aspects of their condition and improve the ability to manage pain through corrective exercise.

Coming from a background in Psychology and Sports Medicine, I have recently launched Tommy Moorhouse Rehabilitation. My extensive knowledge of the human body, especially the fundamental bio-mechanics and how it moves correctly has allowed me to gain nearly 20 years experience helping people with their individual needs. I focus my attention on clients that are experiencing pain on a daily basis, brain injuries and illnesses resulting in loss of control and balanced movement.

I am currently working actively with the following clients/conditions:

- Stroke victims

- Cancer patients (recovering from Chemo/Radio therapy)

- Parkinson's

- Dementia

- Multiple Sclerosis

- Autism

- Hip/Knee replacements

- Back and shoulder pain (postural distortions)

- Post/pre-op strength and conditioning

- Degenerative joints and general wear and tear of the human body

My overall aim is to improve “Neuro-Muscular Efficiency” (The ability for the Nervous system to communicate with the Muscular system which in turn will move the Skeletal system).

In layman’s terms, it is important for the brain to have maximum control of the body and understanding movement through the plains of motion. Improving strength and flexibility will encourage the body to work in the correct alignment where the forces on the body are balanced.

The NHS do a great job but they do NOT have the resources to provide full support during your rehabilitation due to cuts in budgets and time. GP’s will often give their patients pain relief whilst waiting for an 8-12 week referral to see a specialist consultant. This is just masking the problem, using my techniques will strengthen and condition the mind/body to allow improved movement patterns causing less pain if any at all.

Please get in touch either through email or on my contact number, I would be happy to answer any questions you may have or meet in person for an initial consultation.

Tommy Moorhouse

Tommy Moorhouse has been working with my husband over the last few months and I have been very impressed how good he is at working with Peter’s complex needs. Tommy’s knowledge of biomechanics, and in particular his management of my husbands medical conditions which impact on his mobility. Tommy has a very engaging personality and I am very comfortable having him in my home and leaving him to it whilst I take a well earned break.

-Jennifer and Peter (Chessington) – Parkinsons/dementia/knee replacement

I have known Tommy Moorhouse for about a year, he started working with my husband after he was discharged from hospital after having a stroke. His recovery has been exceptional and Bryan’s balance, confidence and stability have all improved building him up to walking 45 minutes 3 times a week with no support or walking aids. Tommy is always polite, caring and helpful.

-Mary and Bryan (Chessington) – Stroke/dementia

I underwent a full knee replacement four years ago leaving me in constant pain regularly reaching for morphine. I have seen lots of different physio’s and physicians and none of them managed to improve my knee or pain. I am now working with Tommy who has given me back my confidence through his training and interesting explanations. I used to pay someone to walk my dog and now I do it myself thanks to Tommy. I am pain free and now have a future to look forward to.

-Eileen (Berrylands) – Complete knee replacement

I introduced Tommy to my Grandad around 3 months ago after he kept having falls around the house because his balance and strength were non-existent. He underwent full surgery for a knee replacement a few years ago and we believe this is why he can’t stay on his feet. Since working with Tommy, Cyril hasn’t had any falls and is much more confident with his movement. Tommy explains everything so that it is easy to understand which means progress is achievable. Keep up the good work.

-Cyril (Berrylands) – Knee replacement

TRY Get Active / Get Fit PT Sessions

Sessions are tailored to your goals using a combination of cardio and strength training to help you get more active, fitter and stronger. Exercises incorporate multiple muscle groups for a complete body workout as well as specific areas that require special attention. I know from my own experience that some exercises can be daunting and the natural tendency is to avoid them. But there are ways to slowly build up to the so-called “hard” exercises and you will be amazed by what you can do. I still am! Most importantly, by doing it this way we build strength, confidence and believe me, we will have the best chance of achieving your own goal.

TRY Get Active/Get Fit Sessions
Single Session  £45
Block Of Six Sessions £240
Block Of Ten or More £350

Movement & Running school- Adults

This starts off with an analysis of walking and/or running, following but a functional movement assessment that reveals how you use your muscles, where there are weaknesses or compensations either from injury or just habits developed over time. Based on this we can then determine what needs to be done to improve your movement and coach you to either help you recover from injury and/or make you more efficient, stronger and, if desired, faster.

Movement & Running School- Adults
Biomechanical Analysis- 1 hour single session £89
Walking Re-Education, Block Of Six Sessions £280
Fall Prevention For Seniors, Block Of Six Sessions £280

Movement & Running School- Kids

Kids sessions are aimed at improving body control, balance, co-ordination and agility so that they can participate and excel with confidence in all kinds of sport. We all think we are not natural runners, but we can all be taught to run and running is part of many sports. The combination of movement coaching and running technique will help build your child’s skills and confidence to run.

For those kids who already love running, the coaching will help develop their speed and agility skills and we will work with them to improve their technique to enable them to run faster.
